The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations says DHS has a, quote, "...legal and moral obligation to ensure that detained Muslims can practice their faith with dignity."
The group is working to purchase religious items for Muslim detainees and help make imams available to them in ICE facilities.

In early 2025, the Trump administration rescinded guidance telling immigration agents to avoid making arrests at sensitive locations such as schools and houses of worship.

Now, a Massachusetts judge says such enforcement at or near churches may violate the First Amendment by imposing, quote, a substantial burden on the exercise of religion.
The injunction lays out some limited circumstances under which arrests could still take place, but largely prevents such actions until the case can be heard in full.

The survey commissioned by the American Jewish Committee found that 91% of American Jews say the attacks on the Pennsylvania governor's mansion, the Capitol Jewish Museum, and a Boulder, Colorado march in support of hostages make them feel less safe.
86% said anti-Semitism has increased in the two years since the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel.
Nearly 9 in 10 said that seeing or hearing the slogan, Globalize the Intifada, would make them feel unsafe.
The survey of more than 1,200 American Jews was performed by an independent research firm in September and October of last year.
