So there were specific people that Buford wanted investigated, but those things all led to dead ends.
They investigated for about 10 years, even going as far as reaching out to J. Edgar Hoover in the offices of the FBI to run ballistic tests on bullets that they had found.
And then eventually that led to Hollywood getting hold of the story.
Of all people, it's Bing Crosby and his production company who catches wind of the Pusser story and decides to bring it to the big screen.
