I wrote about this.
He added a splitter and a curveball.
I watched him again in live BPs today.
They look really good.
So, yeah, I understand the hesitancy there.
Like, I think he probably adds more value to the bullpen.
I might have him as one of my back end, like 7, 8, 9 guys.
That's where I personally think, but I understand why the Pirates are doing what they're doing and they're giving themselves options because it's just easier to dial them back than it is to build it up this time of year.
Well, Gregory Soto is going to be there somewhere.
And that's going to be matchup based.
They really like him left on left.
So if you've got a pocket of lefties in the seventh, it'll probably be Soto.
And then opposite of that, Donnie Kelly today talked about Justin Lawrence and how impressed he's been with him this spring.
And I agree, I've had eyes on him too quite a bit.
He was somebody, he had like a 0.51 ERA last year.
Now he had an arm injury, missed four months of the season, so it's a small sample size, but just some really nasty stuff.
Anyway, your guys in the back end right now, Soto,
Lawrence, Isaac Mattson, Carmen Majinski potentially.
Mason Montgomery is a lefty they picked up in that Tampa trade.
He's looked incredible, throws 101.
