And I remember thinking the same thing about Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which happens to be my favorite Assassin's Creed.
I've been thinking about that game a lot recently, both because of this and also because of the movie.

But in that game also, I just found the ship parts to be the weakest ones, but it was much quicker because you could sail a much shorter distance and find a new island and just kind of
get on with your day whereas this a lot of the whole point is sailing around and and um just maneuvering on the caribbean and i just don't really enjoy those parts of the game very much

I feel like other Assassin's Creed games do that too with other stuff from what I remember.
There's a lot of parkour chases that you have to do to find various things and fill out your objectives, fill out your checklist for each area.
Steven wrote a newsletter about all the modern stuff that was mostly lost on me.
But he wrote that the kind of the new framing is opening is like leaving the door open for a lot more remakes that just kind of change things within them because of the way Abstergo is kind of changed and presented differently.

And given that this game has sold really well, it sold like three million copies in its first week or two, I suspect we'll see a lot more remakes of old Assassin's Creed games.
Yeah, I feel like I lost trust in the Abstergo stuff and the modern day stuff when they introduced all this cool stuff after the end of Valhalla and then just never revisited it again.
