What's fun is that it's big themes, but the moment to moment is just so funny and entertaining that it's just... Episode five, college.
This is kind of, this is the episode that really hooks people, I think.
And I'm curious to hear if that happened to you, Maddie, because a lot of people watch the show and they're like, I'm not sure what's going on.
You're already hooked.
We'll get into that.
But I think the main reason this episode hooks people and this episode is considered one of the greatest of the show is that it so seamlessly merges Tony's two lives.

mundane normal thing that every parent does which is take or a lot of parents do which is take their kid to visit colleges and except because he's tony serrano when he's doing that he sees someone who happens to be a uh an informant

deeply disturbing it was got it yeah in 1999 this wasn't something that a main character of a tv show would do and in fact it became a controversial thing within HBO and there was a big question about whether HBO was going to allow him to do it ultimately they did there's some interesting backstory there I'm going to recommend my editor
felix gillette who has a book called uh it's not tv about the history of hbo and that book really gets into some interesting history there because the guy who was like uh one of the guys who was running hbo at the time chris albrecht who allowed this to go on was later found to uh or was later accused of like physically strangling a woman and so there's some really interesting that's creepy
Non-fiction backstory there, too.
But anyway, back on the show, I mean, I think that that whole sequence is phenomenally well done.
There's a lot of drama, a lot of tension the entire time.
Meadow is like herself going and getting too fucked up and getting getting wasted.
