Appearances
This is the first flashback episode where we see Tony as a child.
We see the fantastic actors who play his parents in the 70s when he's growing up.
We see young Janice, his sister, and we see him start to realize who his dad is and see his dad committing crimes, his dad getting arrested.
And his mother was always...
Always involved as it happened.
And the reason we're seeing all this is because AJ, Tony's son, gets into some trouble.
He steals some wine from the school sacrament.
And his teachers start to think he might have ADD.
They test him out.
And there's a lot in this episode about Tony and Carmela trying to deal with the fact that their son might have some sort of attention deficit disorder.
And also trying to deal with the fact that he might be subconsciously learning from his
his father's behavior and becoming... Maybe that's what's going on, is that he's acting out.
And of course, Livia doesn't hesitate to mention that Tony was quite a hellcat growing up, too.
I think there's some people out there who like skip the Melfi scenes, which is so crazy.
One other thing I want to shout out in this episode is I think this is a good point to mention how good the execution of the show is in terms of set design and production and cinematography.
And in this case, music.
Jefferson Airplane is such a good kind of musical character.
Hugh.
And I think this, the show, other than that first episode, the show doesn't really do a lot with like non-diegetic music outside of the end credits, which always play some sort of song that is just kind of like interesting in some way.
Usually there's no score in the show.
