I'm sure Mike Sullivan said the same things, but there's something different about how maybe this team is working, how they're all in sync.

Like I said, when you give up odd man breaks, we're always going to say, well, it's a bad decision to jump down.

Or maybe the forward dove.

Who knows?

But when you get a forward high, you can be aggressive.

But it's the freedom to let him do his thing as he gets up ice.

That's what I believe it's all about.

And as a player, you just want to be freed up no matter what your role, no matter what your role is.

For me, as a role player, a fourth-line role player,

You got to know that, OK, if I'm going to go out there and do this, if I get a penalty, you're not going to sit me down for the next 20 minutes.

You got to feel like you get freedom to do whichever you want to do.

And I believe it's a part of every role.

Carlson is freed up to do what he's doing.

He's making proper decisions.

And he's been outstanding, though, too.

Again, I just think mentally when you're free and you're not thinking and worried about maybe if it doesn't go the right way.

that you're going to hear it when you get to the bench.

I just feel like they're all under control.

They all believe in what they do when they step over the boards and hop on the ice.

And I think Eric Carlson is just one because his skill set is so high, guys, that we can't miss it.
