And he has long been in the zone of his career where he doesn't have to bow to his editor. matched

So that's why his books always feel a little bit bloated. matched

Between these two things, if it weren't King and his King-itis bloating this story and not having an editorial team who were willing to slash this down to what it should have been, we end up with an overlong, overcomplex, and inefficient story that matched

is still kind of dragged down additionally by the two author dynamic that we kind of struggled with a lot in The Talisman. matched

And I just feel like this book could be a lot further along by now. matched

And I don't think this book needs to be as long as it is. matched

It feels like it's sort of wasting my time. matched

I'm enjoying the parts that I enjoy, and we'll talk about that in a moment. matched

But there's a bit of a frustration that's ongoing for me here. matched

Sean, the book is so inefficient that the murderer has to call the cops and say, I'm tired of waiting on you matched

The multiple perspectives of the same scene, it could have been done to provide an effect, to give us more information than we would otherwise have. matched

The movie Rashomon, I mean, it's famous for the fact that it tells the same story over and over again. matched

But the power of that structure is that each version of that story is from a different perspective. matched

So we learn more and different things and we see where there is a conflict in these tellings. matched

But in this, everybody basically, every perspective gives us the same information. matched
