A really interesting character who seems like we're going to be spending a lot more time with and get to know a lot more about is Jack's quote-unquote uncle, Morgan Sloat.
We learn pretty quickly that Morgan's a pretty crappy person.

And it seems like Morgan's clearing house so that he can take over.
And now he sees an opportunity to get rid of Jack's mom because she's ill.
And as soon as that happens, maybe he can get rid of Jack too.
We're getting the main villain of this story set up pretty quickly here.

I'm sure it makes Christmas dinner really awkward.

Yeah, and I also really like the notion that Speedy is a former jazz musician.
So there's a lyrical quality to the way he speaks and the sound of his voice and the way he moves his hands.
It almost kind of reminds you of Scatman Crothers.
