And I'm not here to endlessly chat about the black market, but it is there.
So you must start with a premise in any sensible regulation of saying we shouldn't send anybody in that direction.
And if you start in that direction, if you work on that premise, then you're working in a normal
world where you genuinely can argue that you care about people.
But the truth is that the gambling commissioned and all of these activists are being pushing with all of their restrictive measures and don't do this and you can't spend that and you shouldn't be here.
They are they know 100% that the net result of their behavior is to send people to the black market.
Now their intention is to just basically they've been captured by some ridiculous idea which was uh beautifully uh is postulated by Steve Donahue who said what gambling is about these days, gambling activism about is the public health approach to gambling, which basically argues that every time anybody has any kind of a bet, you just walk into a newity agent and you say I've got two pep two quid in my pocket, I'm gonna
now but I'm gonna buy a little lottery ticket.
No harm in that, presumably not for a normal person.
But the gambling activism now, the public health approach, says that that little purchasing that little lottery ticket represents a tiny packet of harm.
Exactly.
And the totality of all the gambling that takes place, no matter how inconsequential or meaningless to people, or I'm just having a five-pound on a horse in the Grand National, I never have another bet all year, still represents a little packet of harm.
And the totality of that harm is some massive damaging thing that we need to basically, the only way they see as stopping this.
That's where they have
Essentially it's thirty pounds a day.
If if you if you are if you are net losing thirty pounds a day, they're demanding checks of you.
They're demanding your bank statements and that kind of thing.
If you look at if you look at even the most ardent activists like gambling with lives and their absurd and their absurd um claims, gambling with lives, all of their people that have suffered the greatest harm in gambling are not high earners.
They're not people betting in thousand-pound units or five hundred pound units or even hundred-pound units.
They are often the very lowest earners in society.
