And and and then there was one question that the lady I mentioned who is was the layperson on the hearing committee that I did decide to answer.
which was she said, because we asked you the question of if you're taking lawyer-client privilege, who do you think your client was?
And there was indignancy in the question.
Your client is the American people.
And I said, incorrect.
My client, when I'm in the executive branch at the Justice Department, is the head of the executive branch, the president of the United States in his official capacity.
And you could have heard a pin drop at that point because they were shocked to hear that answer because this is not the idea of the ethics authorities, right?
They've tried for years and they actually passed a rule in D.C.
to say that if you're in the executive branch, your client is the head of
agency that you're in.
So to them, the acting attorney general in 2020 was my client, not President Trump, even though I was directly dealing with President Trump.
And they would not hear any argument to the contrary, even though that argument is just basic constitutional law.
I'm very encouraged by it.
I'm grateful to them for doing it because it's not costless, right?
I mean, given how they ran my name through the mud, right, given that they pulled me out of my house in 2022 without letting me get dressed, given, you know, and they just they ran all these narratives like this guy, you know, he's a nobody.
He has no particular legal credentials.
He just was like a yes man who showed up for President Trump, which totally ignores all of my accolades that I was the only person
assistant attorney general who was asked to run two of seven litigating divisions, 1,400 lawyers simultaneously.
But they cook up these narratives to try to demonize people.
But given that that's the mainstream narrative, for them to come in on my side creates political costs for them.
