I'm not here to be everybody's friend and their buddy.

Maybe when I was a young coach, I cared about that.

That goes back to where I am in my life right now.

They don't want to be my friend.

That's not what I'm here for.

I am here to help them get better and help them develop.

And yeah, you know what?

I want to help them do great things in their life, get them money, get them paid, but ultimately I want to win.

That's what I'm here for.

And I want them to respect me because they trust me, because I tell them the truth, because I'm going to believe in them and pour everything I have into them.

But then I'm going to hold them to a standard.

And if they're not doing something good enough, I'm going to tell them.

Whether it was Micah Parsons or Xavier McKinney or Rondé Barber or all the great players that I've coached, they all want to be told what to do and how hard to do it.

They don't want to be told, hey, great job when it wasn't a good job.

They're not going to get better and they're not going to grow.

Like that doesn't work.

A player?

To a player, you're saying, me to one of my players?

Yeah, I mean, I can think there's a bunch of guys that I do still have great relationships with, and those are the guys that are in your office early in the morning before you're getting ready to go over the game plan with the team because they want to know it beforehand.
