The entire X Division concept and creation was I knew starting the company that there is a lot of unbelievable talent on the independent scene.
The independents in 2002 compared to the independents in 2026, radically different.
But they were a lot of talent out there, AJ Styles among others.
But there was a lot of guys out there.
And I knew that they didn't have TV experience.
And I'm not going to say they didn't have experience in telling stories and angles.
There was never a platform.
So they knew in independent wrestling, go out and put on the absolute best match you can.
It's what they had been trained to do.
So I wanted to give them a real opportunity
platform and i knew that lucha libre was beginning uh to really you know based off the 90s influence american wrestling obviously i knew the strong style was beginning to influence the european matt style and it's kind of a melting pot and i was i can remember about literally chris about a half a mile from here i had a conversation with my father specifically about the exhibition
And he was very negative on it.
Son, they don't know how to tell stories, and there's no money in this.
And I'm like, Dad, yes, there is.
This style is where the industry's headed.
It's just that simple.
And so as it's progressed along, and now that I look back on it, the X Division style of wrestling now is the main event style of wrestling.
