yeah and listen i don't think it's the worst thing if we're thinking about trades and trades actually happen because if you go through like last year i went through the top 150 players that we had for player tiers right and i think it was like 91 of those players were acquired by their teams through the draft um
The number of free agents, maybe it was like 10, 14, something like that altogether.
And in the top two tiers, I think Artemi Panarin was the only one.
And now he's actually in the trade category, not even the free agent, if we redid it tomorrow.
So...
free agency is just not the way to acquire top end talent.
That is for supplemental players, right?
And obviously they're benefiting from the cap.
Obviously they're going to benefit from the market.
Yes, there's going to be a lot of regrettable contracts.
We're talking about trades and we're getting some trade movement because the free agent class is so
poor i think that's great for entertainment value i think that's great for the drama i love that um but it's also better for team building because that is your next best way to find players if you're not going to draft them yourself and develop them into stars and teams like the golden knights and panthers are showing even more how valuable trades can be so here's hoping here's hoping we have something else to talk about because it's not going to be the free agent class and it's it's not to knock some of the guys out there i think that marchment could be a good ad for a team i think bjorkstrand is good i'm curious where tarasov goes right like um
There's a handful of names out there, even someone like Patrick Laine.
Like if I'm the Tampa Bay Lightning, I am looking at him to be a power play specialist.
They barely played Oliver Bjorkström last year and tried to make that happen.
And it didn't.
Why not go for someone who's just a great goal scorer and that alone?
So, yeah, there's going to be like little nuggets here and there.
That'll be interesting.
But hopefully it is a day filled with more trades.
