Well, if all this takes is prospects and we have as much as everyone else without the penalty for going and spending it, why wouldn't we?

But what's different about the Dodgers, Dan, is that they've got the Otani force multiplier, where you know if you have Shohei Otani on your team and a halfway competent group of players,
business executives, that your floor revenue-wise is going to be pretty much where everyone else's ceiling is.
And the Dodgers have leveraged Ohtani to enormous returns.
They're the first baseball team to go over a billion dollars a year in revenue, and they're on track to replicate that this year.

He is the greatest bargain in the history of baseball.

And even at a straight $700 million, he would be a bargain.
But $700 million brought down because of deferrals to about $450 or so million.
Yeah.
In terms of a player maximizing his value, Shohei Otani's contract is the worst contract in baseball right now for a player.
And I don't begrudge him for signing this $700 million deal, but he's a billion-dollar player.
Easy as that.
It's amazing what Pete Crow Armstrong's done this year.
We knew what his floor was.
He was going to be, based on his position in center field, his speed, the defense that he plays, he's a two to three win player without swinging the bat.
