Uh that is true, Tony.
So on October ninth, nineteen eighty seven.
On the banks of the Rogue River, which
Snakes through Oregon for about two hundred fifteen miles, a few canoes
pulled up onto a riverbank uh for a long in the making baseball debate.
Um Bobby Dore is a Hall of Fame second baseman with the Boston Red Sox and
was one of Ted Williams's closest friends.
They loved fishing together and Bobby Dore was
Five eleven, one seventy five, hit about two hundred home runs in his career and
Ted Williams, Tony, was Ted Williams and believed that he knew just about everything there was to know about hitting because
He kind of did.
And so
These two for five decades have been arguing about how to properly hit a baseball, but have never had any sort of formal back and forth about it.
And they decided during the middle of a three day fishing trip
on that riverbank that they are going to go back and forth and argue about hitting.
And it's such
a fascinating window into Ted Williams's world and
uh shows him at sixty nine years old still as full of vim and vigor as he ever was and
Uh how I came into possession of this there is a hitting coach
in Mississippi named Josh DeMoney and I met him this year.
