but I don't think this was any sort of gamesmanship or saving himself for Bayern.
I think this was a guy that tried to rehab to get to a point that he could contribute, and ultimately his body just wasn't ready.
And I think when we talk about finely-tuned athletes and world-class athletes, the idea of doing catastrophic damage by going out there and trying to be a hero –
He's got a lot of career ahead of him, both for club and hopefully for country.
And so I think that there was a little bit of that at play as well, that there will be a next time for him.

I'm sure he was thinking he was doing the right thing for himself.
Again, it sucked.
