Mr. Donaldson said it was totally unexpected.

He had just no idea, none whatsoever.

And this was the details of that arrest we weren't newly aware of.

Yet he said, we were sleeping, by we he means himself and his wife Eleanor.

Police arrived at 6am.

We had no idea this was coming.

He said, I can't even remember what was said.

All I could hear was legal words.

Mr Donald said that since then he has thought about it during his every waking moment.

And he said that while he had been in police stations through his work many times, he had never been in a police station in my life as a suspect.

He said, my head was in a spin, he told the court.

Mr. Donaldson then said, if people could have asked their mind back to that day, he was party leader at the time.

So he said he had a full day of meetings planned.

He had to cancel those.

Saying he has since asked himself, why is this?

Why is this happening?

So we had a break for lunch.

So the defence questioned him first.
