At the very least, they could be within proximity of where other Knick fans were celebrating.
And kudos to Zoran Mamdani for making the Bryant Park possible, for making other watch areas possible.
But it's something special about them gathering around or close to the Garden to feel like,
They're a part of something that you have generations of heartbreak, of sweat equity put into this team.
The reason the Knicks brand exists as one of the best and most financially profitable brands in sports is because of Knicks fans.
And so to have them cut out of the picture completely, it just felt wrong.
Yeah, well, and I think the other thing too is that Trump has said some very disparaging things about New York City.
Let's not forget that part.
He's essentially compared it to a third world country.
He's disparaged a lot of immigrants, a lot of undocumented people.
New York is one of the most diverse cities in the world.
And he has torn down a lot of people that represent those groups that he has disparaged.
And so while this isn't... It's not necessarily about politics.
It's about the person.
And a lot of people...
don't like Donald Trump.
He's got a historically low approval rating, which is why I said for James Dolan to invite somebody who is not well-liked into the space where it's supposed to be joyous celebration, a coronation for the Knicks on the cusp and win the title, it was an obliviousness and a selfishness on his part, and it was selfish of Donald Trump to accept the invitation and mess up all the good vibes that have been surrounding this team as they try to win an NBA title for the first time
since 1973.
