Cybersecurity experts are scrambling to deal with the fallout of the discovery of a serious security flaw in Microsoft's locally hosted software platform called SharePoint.
According to Google's Mandi, one of the earliest hacking groups responsible for exploiting the vulnerability is linked to China.
It's unclear who initially discovered it or what their main goal was, given that early attacks have been widespread rather than targeted.

The Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has released a new alert warning about a flaw in Microsoft SharePoint.
The problem exists on a version of the collaboration tool that clients install locally rather than connect to online.
If hackers break in using this flaw, they could access everything hosted on the platform, including secret cryptographic keys, and essentially take control, according to SISA.
Microsoft says it continues to work on and release patches to secure the software.
Experts are still trying to identify the scope and scale of digital attacks using this new technique.
However, several cybersecurity companies say it's already affecting governments and corporations around the globe.
