CENTCOM officials that, in fact, they're seeing fewer and fewer in these waves.
But again, these drones are causing a lot of damage.
They're the ones that have struck these hotels in Dubai and Bahrain and elsewhere.
And they're going to be a problem for some time.
We now have an indication as to why that is.
It is the large stockpile of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles that Iran had accumulated in the last few years.
Fox's Jennifer Griffin, the Pentagon says more than a thousand targets were hit in Iran in the first 24 hours.
But the most significant news to come out of the Pentagon briefing this morning was when General Dan Kaine said that they had achieved air superiority.
That means they have suppressed all of the Russian and Chinese-made air defense systems in Iran in less than three days.
The strikes began shortly after 1 a.m.
Eastern.
This is a rare joint U.S.-Israeli operation, synchronized and planned over a matter of months.
A senior U.S.
military official tells me this operation will last not hours, but days.
Among the initial targets, the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's compound, which can be seen in satellite photos as mere rubble at this point.
