So, yeah, it's like they're living in this essentially a gender apartheid regime.

And we just seem to not want to talk about it anymore.

So there are a lot of questions being asked about this.

You kind of have to dig to see them, though.

It's not really entering into kind of mainstream political commentary.

But like, why are they meeting in Brussels?

And, you know, who's going to cover the travel and the accommodation costs of the Taliban?

And who exactly was invited?

And why does this need to happen?

Yeah.

For context, I think it is worth reminding people about how far things have deteriorated in the five years since the Taliban declared that schools were only for boys.

So at that time, an estimated 1.2 million teenage girls were effectively, their education was brought to an abrupt end.

And that left them with very few life choices.

Some of them have been forced into early marriage.

They're confronting domestic violence.

Some of them have chosen to end their lives.

There are problems with drug addiction amongst women and they've been essentially eradicated from all aspects of public life with no end in sight.

There's a really powerful piece in The Guardian, which is a piece you sent me by, I'm probably going to mispronounce your name, Fazia Koufi, who's a female Afghan MP or was before the Taliban came in and took control.

And she says that three members of her family have been imprisoned to silence and punish her.

So she's writing about what has changed in those five years.
