I mean, I've written my column about it this weekend and it's not that I'm coming very late to the party, but there is a controversy raging around the memoir now, which we'll get into in a moment.

But I was thinking about and I was thinking, you know, if you're a woman married to a man or if you're a woman thinking about getting married to a man or if you're a woman thinking about no longer being married to a man, somebody has recommended this book to you.

And even if you're just like somebody who likes X and Fox News, you've probably heard of it as well because of all the controversy and the conspiracy theories swirling around it.

So it is one of those books that just, it appeared in January and it was commissioned on the back of a Modern Love column in the New York Times, which I think was published about two and a half years ago, in which Belle told a little bit of her divorce story.

So, I mean, the short and more relatable version of Bell Burden's story is that she and her family at the start of the COVID lockdowns moved to their, this is not terribly relatable, moved to their beach house in Martha's Vineyard.

I mean, that is definitely part of the appeal.

It's like how the other half lives.

So they went anyway to their beautiful Martha's Vineyard home, which I spent a very happy summer near Martha's Vineyard on Nantucket.

So I can completely picture the white picket fences and the lovely life that they had and the whiskey sours that they drank on the veranda looking at the sunset.

They were all set up to have a great lockdown until one week in, Belle was mopping the kitchen floor one night and she got a phone call from a stranger who said to her that his wife was having an affair with her husband.

And that was kind of all he said.
