But then there was also this need to kill quicker.

You know, Fred Brooks endured probably seven hours of torture before he was murdered.

I mean, you know, it's just horrendous.

Yes, to an extent, but one of the things that happened was that no one knew, not even the police, how big this was until after the discovery had been made.

So even when the police rolled into Snowtown that day, they were investigating the disappearances of five people.

And what they found was six barrels with eight bodies in them.

The first front page headline the next day that I was one of the reporters who worked on said six barrels, six bodies.

We got that wrong.
