I think there's a couple of reasons for that.

I was really particular about this book in that I'm a journalist

it needed to be a journalistic account of what happened.

This is supposed to be an extended piece of journalism.

I feel like sometimes once you get to the movie point, it goes beyond that.

And while they're based on facts, they're fictionalised and I'm not necessarily – I

But at the end of the day, and I know it's easy to say, but he could have ended it at some point by

the phone and calling for help and not actively being involved in murders and then luring people, including his own stepbrother, to his death.

I think telling the story of how the victims came to be in the place they were and why it is that their vanishing wasn't noticed or the alarm wasn't raised sooner, I think that had to be done to be fair to them.

And I think if you allow yourself to look at this case and write these people off as no hopers or pedophiles, well, that's what John Bunting thought about them.
