ever a conversation in between the four years of the World Cup.

You know, I mean, no one knows in the qualifiers and the friendlies and all the things that go in between anything about this squad.

And so I think the conversation that they've stirred up does have a transcending effect.

And I think the the emotions there carry forward for people.

And

It would be one thing if they lost 2-1 and played fairly well against Belgium.

But this was a humbling moment of... I think ultimately what we're going to remember is...

There is, it's smaller maybe percentage-wise than other countries, but there is a faction of the United States that wants this really badly, that loves the sport, that would like to see the national team become, say, one of the top six annually.

And to see them go down that way,

under record TV ratings for American soccer, under just this geopolitical feud that Trump stirred up, to see them fail so dramatically, I'm not sure that what's going to happen is that people are just going to ignore all the sport again.

I think it's going to stir a demand for better.

And I think you're going to feel that from within the organization of U.S.

soccer and certainly within this small percentage-wise base of fans.

And in that case, the transcending effect could be a greater passion to do more, to break through.

And I'm not sure that we've ever had that.

I think we've just assumed that it was going to happen eventually for us.

Or we've just dismissed this as like, hey, we're good at everything else.

We don't have to be great at this.

And now I don't know that people are just going to let it go and let it disappear and have it pop back up.

you know, at that 100th anniversary World Cup in four years.
