Fear is contagious and it's infectious.
It really is.
And so if you look at all of the media, X amount of billion dollars wiped off the share market, you literally see like apocalyptic, like now you'll see it.
You will not unsee it.
Literally, it's like dark storm clouds, like, you know, the heavens are about to open and the sky is about to fall on our head.
Because bad news sells.
They know it.
You know, the thing to remember is they haven't necessarily been wiped off the share market.
It's that the value has gone down.
So the thing to remember as a new investor is that what is important is what did you buy it for?
What did you sell it for?
Every other movement along the way is a paper trail.
So you haven't quote unquote lost anything until you sell and you're crystallizing that loss.
So how I want you to think about the bear periods is if you believe in what you're investing for, your goal, and you believe that your asset allocation is correct, so what's in your portfolio, it's a sale.
When there is a sale on at your favorite shop, you don't go in there and go...
nah, the vibe's wrong.
Everything's cheap.
I want to wait till it's off sale and then I will buy it.
Never.
And so you've got to train your brain to think of it like a sale and think, okay, great.
