It's sharing what you wish you would have known.

I had the chance last week to give the commencement address at my high school graduation, which was awesome.

And it was such a gift to be able to say, oh, what did I wish I knew in that moment?

And the thing that I think a lot of speakers get wrong is that in order to teach what you learned, you have to teach where you failed.

Like you have to show where like, oh, that didn't go so well, and so let me tell that story.

But in the beginning of my speaking career, I thought it was all about sharing why I deserve to be there, why I'm credible,

I've been on the Today Show.

I've done this.

I've done these things.

I've done all this stuff.

I deserve to be here.

No one was learning anything.

It was crickets.

No one wanted to talk to me.

There was no spinoff from it.

And I remember the exact talk where I got a parking ticket that day.

I know someone else got a parking ticket today.

I got a parking ticket.

It was raining and didn't bring my umbrella.
