Yes, exactly.
Can I give you one more thing that is on this that I think could be helpful based on everything we're talking about?
One of the biggest shifts that I think someone can make, I teach this shift, I came up with it as a public speaking tip, but the more I use it at companies, I'm like, this is just a life career shift.
There's two different types of speakers.
There are spotlight speakers and lighthouse speakers.
Spotlight speakers come up on stage.
Light is shining on them.
They're asking themselves, how do I look?
How do I sound?
Do people like me?
They're concerned with perception and perfection.
That's how we've been trained to speak.
From spelling bees to whatever, public speaking is about us.
But a lighthouse speaker...
shifts the light from themselves to their audience or their listener or the baby in the grocery line.
And if a spotlight asks, what does everyone think of me?
A lighthouse asks, what does everyone need of me?
And if you can go be a lighthouse on stage where you're like, where are they at?
What do they need?
How can I help?
