That's why I think this back to school season is a beautiful opportunity, not just to reorganize our homes, get our color-coded calendars ready, because I know you mamas are doing that right now, but to rethink how do we intentionally help our children learn something new this year, not just what they learn in school. voice-verified

I think we start with one and we teach them where that one thing lives best in their day. voice-verified

What I've realized is when you start teaching your kids to do that, they start learning how to carry things on their own and you slowly stop having to carry it for them, which lightens your load. voice-verified

The goal isn't to raise children who need us to remember everything forever. voice-verified

We want to raise adults who know how to remember things for themselves. voice-verified

And every year, we intentionally hand over a little bit more of that responsibility so that we're preparing them for the real world while we're also simultaneously lightening our mental load that we've been carrying for them for years. voice-verified
