Yeah, we broke it today.
It's kind of, I guess, surprising but unsurprising news to a lot of his fans.
I mean, the guy has been doing radio essentially since the late 70s, but really became popular in the mid-80s.
He is 71 years old.
This is his fourth five-year contract with Sirius.
He's always done five-year contracts over the course of his Sirius career.
And it is set to expire this fall.
um and as you know as we all know in media these days people are not getting the big bucks that they once were um for whatever reason for a plethora of different reasons um from dwindling audiences uh to other uh other reasons let's just put it that way for now um and he has been commanding a hundred million dollars a year like
a year that's how much his contract has been over the last five years it has it started at around 80 million a year and it's gone up to a hundred um and so it's really hard to fathom to continue to pay somebody like that um in this climate in this media climate and that's kind of what my sources have told me is that
Sirius is ready to make him an offer, but it's essentially going to be an offer that he can refuse.
You know, it's going to be one of these like lowball offers that they're absolutely expecting him not to take.
My source also said that there's going to be some sort of discussion about purchasing his catalog.
Now, right now.
Curious has rights to his catalog till 2027.
That was something that came out during the initial reporting on his contract when this contract was signed in 2020, that they have some sort of rights to continue to use his catalog till 2027.
But my source is saying that there's going to be some sort, there's an expectation that there will be some sort of negotiation for Sirius to possibly own his catalog for either a longer period of time or to own it outright.
That's going to be kind of part of this exit package, I think, is probably the way we can look at it.
yeah i mean like i would stop i would like i would stop short of saying like he's retiring because we don't know what's next for him you know they have again they have rights to his catalog until 2027 so it's kind of uh it's like a difficult kind of wording process because just because they can't come to an agreement which is essentially what this is they're going to make him an offer they know he's not going to take it and so he's going to back out so what else is it it's really effectively cancelled like i'm not going to pay you what
you think you deserve and so we're not going to be able to continue to put you on the air anymore so that's kind of you know without any other real wording for you know him stepping i guess you could say he steps away but they still have this they still have his his actual catalog for another couple of years beyond this um so it's kind of a tough uh tough thing to call and he certainly isn't necessarily retiring because who knows what's what's next for him
done because as far as i can see you still have the exclusive on this and i haven't seen any reporting any anywhere else yeah i mean i think that there's there's this is it's at the point where things are being kind of figured out it's not you know this isn't inked nothing is inked yet that's why there's no definite uh definite definitive information regarding his catalog um so this is very much something that's like in the beginning of the works
