In a statement, the Pentagon says, at the direction of South Com Commander General Francis Donovan, the Joint Task Force Southern Sphere conducted three strikes on three vessels operated by designated terrorist organizations.
They note the boats were traveling along known narco-trafficking routes.
Two strikes killed eight men on two different vessels in the eastern Pacific.
Three men were killed in one strike on a boat in the Caribbean.
Since September 2nd, there have been more than 140 people killed in 42 strikes.
Last fall, President Trump said the U.S.
is in a formal armed conflict with drug cartels.

The attorneys for Jose Ibarra say his trial attorney did not ask for a competency evaluation ahead of proceedings and that they believe he has a congenital deficiency that makes him incapable of preparing for and participating in his own defense.
After Ibarra was convicted and in response to this motion from his new attorneys, the judge ordered a mental evaluation last summer.
And said Friday, that assessment found Ibarra was competent and had been at the time of trial a year prior.
Ibarra was convicted of murdering 22-year-old Laken Riley while she was jogging on the University of Georgia campus in Athens.
Prosecutors say Ibarra tried to sexually assault Riley before killing her.
His DNA was found under her fingernails.
