The court hearing for the man accused of shooting a college student to death in Chicago has been delayed.
Jose Medina has been charged with six felony counts, including first degree murder. He's accused of killing 18 year old Sheridan Gorman. She attended Loyola University in Chicago and was walking with friends near the pier when Medina is accused of approaching them, wearing a mask and opening fire on the group. Homeland Security says he'd been detained by the Border Patrol in 2023, but released into the U.S., He was arrested later that same year for stealing from a Macy's, but never showed up to court for that charge. His hearing Monday was postponed. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office said he was still hospitalized and unable to appear in court. Jessica Rosenthal, Fox News.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio expected to testify in the trial of former Florida Congressman David Rivera, who's accused of secretly lobbying for Venezuela. As gas prices surge, a leading delivery service is planning to help out its drivers.
DoorDash is offering extra compensation to U.S. and Canadian drivers as part of a temporary program to help combat soaring gas prices. The move comes as the national average price for gas is nearing $4 a gallon in the U.S., according to AAA. That's 35% higher than a month ago. DoorDash says that U.S. drivers with a DoorDash debit card will earn 10% cash back on any gas purchase. That's up from the usual rate of 2%. While drivers who travel at least 125 miles will also receive a weekly fuel payment starting at $5 and up to a maximum of $15. Both programs will remain in effect through April the 26th.
