Yeah, so Dan Wetzel wrote a story for ESPN a couple nights ago that apparently LSU is taking the stance that they never actually terminated Brian Kelly because now they're trying to fire him for cause to avoid paying the full $54 million buyout.
And they informed Brian Kelly of this on Monday.
So Brian Kelly's representatives, I believe, presented a court filing saying that that wasn't true and that they have since his alleged firing, I suppose, they've tried to reach a settlement over the buyout, which is sort of.
common that he would settle for a number that would make sense and get the money upfront rather than installments.
And then that would also negate the offsetting money element if he does get another job, but they weren't able to reach a settlement.
So this is basically LSU just trying to get out of paying the $54 million, it seems like, and maybe potentially
bring up some things that they claim would make Brian Kelly look bad or maybe damages reputation in the process.
That's sort of like me alleging like if they really want to get messy with it or not, because it does seem like, you know, both sides signed the contract.
You owe him the money, so you probably have to pay him the money.
Yeah, the governor's press conference, I think, did damage, but was like, OK, we can look past that because he's just trying to make a point.
He's a politician and he wants brownie points for being the one who let go of this expensive head coach.
But then his comments about these college football contracts being too expensive, which, like, personally, I agree with.
