The Democrats were coming off of a very good electoral week.
So the big tent was in full regalia.
I was at a liberal conference on Friday, and people were pretty high on the idea that we were winning races, yes, in some blue states, but also in Mississippi and in Georgia.
And that, frankly, we were united around the fact that Democrats are the party that cares about people's health care.
And that's what this fight was about.
And I think the thing that stings the most
is that not only the eight senators who voted for this, but the reporting shows that there are a few more behind the scenes, apparently, that were telling them, please do this for us.
