The Congressional Budget Office says the price tag to put troops in several American cities in 2025 is about $496 million.
The CBO looked at things like the cost to activate, deploy and compensate National Guard personnel, as well as the logistical costs of maintaining those deployments.

DHS and its full funding have been under scrutiny since the shooting of VA nurse and anti-ICE activist Alex Preddy this past weekend.
Several lawmakers on both sides of the aisle had said they could no longer support funding for DHS and ICE as long as ICE continues to use what some are calling heavy-handed illegal tactics against migrants.

Senate Democrats were already angry about Homeland Security, ICE and the tactics being used to remove migrants.
But after Saturday's shooting, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.
That means they're opposing legislation needed to avoid a government shutdown by the end of the week.
Republicans need some Democratic support to get a spending package passed by Friday when temporary funding for the majority of the federal government runs out.
