Uh, you know, we I guess recently passed forty trillion dollars in national debt.
That was headlines for a week.
You know, you would think uh we're having a national heart attack or something.
That you cannot uh think intelligently about the forty trillion dollars in debt unless which is true, that is the number, unless you put it in the context of GDP.
And I've I've said this before, but you look at the debt
to GDP ratio.
How much do we owe?
But how much capacity do we have?
And GDP is a good proxy for that to pay the debt.
And by the way, you don't have to pay it off.
We're never going to pay it off.
What you do have to do is roll it over.
As security, treasury securities mature, you may need to sell, you do need to sell new ones, take the money, pay off the old one, and then go forward with the new one.
So it's that rollover aspect that's critical.
And that's a question of market confidence and market trust.
So what does the market actually look at when they're making those decisions?
Well, the answer I just gave it is the debt to GDP ratio.

Right now it's at an all time highs.
