You know, they show a nice shot of a parrot or something like that, which is exotic to us.

And we go, wow, this is awful.

We need to do something about it.

But burning, deliberate burning of our uplands,

is doing exactly the same thing.

We just don't have what you might call sexy megafauna, you know what I mean?

Something pretty and fantastic that we can all relate to.

A lot of these creatures are not the most colourful.

They're not large, they're not big.

And so as humans, we tend not to value them quite as much as something exotic and far away, but it's the exact same thing.

We really do need to value these things.

And education is vital.

A lot of it is just people don't know.

If you tell people the life cycle of something like the oak egg or moth or the windshad or the meadow pippet, I'd be...

Defy me in saying that they won't look on that creature ever again with the same eyes and will value it a lot more.

If you don't understand it, in many ways, you don't value it.

No, I mean, it's a multifaceted approach, really, and grazing can be part of that.

But it would be, you know...

To be honest, it would be not using sheep in many ways.

It would be using smaller cattle on the drier areas, which are the areas that are most likely to burn.
