I agree with his assessment that Trump threatening to take Greenland is so destabilizing for a number of reasons.
One, it ends up basically you're attacking one of your own allies.
ripping up the NATO alliance that has helped maintain peace, and creates a situation where we're in an arms race across not only Europe, but across the globe.
If Europe arms up even more, then Russia, China arm up even more.
And when you're in that close proximity,
there is more likely to be mistakes.
One of the reasons why NATO works is because the United States is across the ocean and is one of the main backers.
So no, this is, and we're less likely to overreact historically
to something that occurs.
So this is a big deal.
You would undermine the one thing that has helped keep peace in Europe and the globe since the end of World War II.
a big deal, and it will make the United States less safe, less secure, and would actually make us less prosperous, because the United States is the number one, the ruled reserve currency, because we abide by the rule of law.
People know that we should be able to be held, they know what they get when they invest in the United States.
But now, all of a sudden, if we invade Greenland, we annex Greenland, you're sending the opposite message.
So it is a big deal.
Yeah, I introduced a piece of legislation called the Greenland Sovereignty Protection Act.
What it will do is prevent Trump from using any federal funds to annex, invade, or by any other means acquire Greenland.
