And when I think about when we started franchising the business in 94, it was rather informal.

And then we formalized our training center and our corporate offices in the early 2000s.

And we were bringing in people from all over the country into our three-week Jimmy John's training program.

And one thing that now was really for sure was that people's self-esteem is so sensitive.

And when people are judged by a smile or a mutilation or a bad tooth or a scar or whatever,

or something like that.

People are simply judged and they're put in a category of inferior.

And not only do they feel that way because society makes them feel that way.

I mean, look at what Hollywood, they still make fun of obese people, right?

And they make fun of things that it's okay to make fun of.

And you see these people, I have these kids coming into training that are trying to find a life, but they have one of these issues.

So one thing that we did

is we created an alliance with a doctor in Champaign by the name of Dr. Scott Anderson, whose office was about a block and a half from our Jimmy John's training center.

in Champaign, Illinois, and he always kept a chair for us at his office.

And so when the new trainees would come to Champaign, Illinois, every Monday a new class started, you know, 50, 60, 70 people come in, we'd make them smile and happy.

And one thing that we looked for was, is there anything that we can do to help these people while they're here that they can't do for themselves?

And these are kids that work for other franchisees.

They're not our employees.

They're just I want to help people with their self-esteem.

So we would make them smile and then identify people that we might be able to assist, whether it be a plastic surgery, fix a gauge or something with teeth and a smile.
