Honestly, I think the only person in the entire stadium slash world who doesn't think he made a mistake is Thomas Tuchel at that point.
Or maybe he does.
So this is the thing, I'm not trying to defend him for the choices, but I think he's not here to defend himself and say why.
But there's every chance that he just saw this as what's happening.
And so inevitably he has the same feeling.
He's watched a thousand million games before.
He's like, right, I'll help them out by putting on some more defenders.
But the front line, like, Bellingham and Kane just looked done.
They were completely goosed.
Like, nothing left.
Empty stamina bars.
The brave decision would be to take them off and put on other players who could run.
The wise decision would be to have kept them with two blocks of four and organised for the rest of the game.
Because you see at the very end when the score, in fact, even the first goal, the Argentina score, like...
they're disorganised they're not it's from a set piece as well but no one's where they should be there should be a role blocking there should be other guys at the back doing man marking and whatever they're doing from your things but you see when the players come on and they go over to different players and say oh you're over here now and I'm over here now like
Well, interestingly, I was just looking at some of the numbers there and it's England finished that game with 36% possession, Argentina 64%.
And just like not trying to have a dig at Arsenal at all here.
But it's very much like they're leaning into the Premier League physicality and all that sort of stuff.
They've done exactly what Arsenal did in the Champions League.
Soon to come up against a team who can play against them.
