So I started as a structural mechanic, learning how to like shoot rivets and bend metal and make fabricate parts and patch holes and things like that, lots of composites and stuff.

And as soon as I got out of school, I immediately got deployed with my unit to Iraq.

And they asked for volunteers to be door gunners.

So I was like, sure, I'll do that because that'll put me in the aircraft.

Yeah, it'll put me in the aircraft that's closer to the front seat.

Right.

So my whole idea is like, how can I get closer?

And I mean, what 19, 20 year old doesn't want to operate a machine gun out of a helicopter while it flies, you know?

So that's what I did.

And that was a blast.

And, you know, flying eight hour days, you know, just over the desert doing that whole life.

But you're doing two jobs in the same.

Yeah.

So I would one day I would fly the next day I would work on helicopters in the hangars.

And then the next day I might be on the flight schedule again.

I would fly.

So kind of leading to two different jobs at the same time.

And you're probably just starting to know this machine like inside and out.

Inside and out, yeah.
