I went I was looking I said, I'm not gonna go buy a new book.
There must be a book in the test I haven't read.
And there was a copy of Emily Harriken's book, The Guinness Girls Hint of a Scandal.
So I said, Oh, I'll read this.
Now it is all factual in that it is based on, you know, uh the daughters of um Ernest Guinness.
So they're all real people and they were all married to real people and they were very good friends with the Mitfords, who one of them hooked up with Oswald Mosley and the other one went off with um
Hitler himself.
Um well was very, very interesting is it pi it was it was the human nature aspect of people in power of wealth at a time when the world was falling apart.
And how disengaged they were from all of that.
And I actually then ended up reading the next one, another one, which was a visit from the Kennedys and Joe Kennedy's role as an ambassador to the UK into London at the time.
And again
These people in great privilege
not I'm not talking so much about the Kennedys but the Guinnesses, the people in great privilege and their response to what was going on at the time and their relationships and how they viewed it.
And some of them were obviously married to people
um in the House of Lords at the time were very i close to uh one was very much on the side of uh Neville Chamberlain, the other one very much on the side of Winston Churchill.
And just appeasement.
versus um, you know, standing up to the bully, all of that.
But it was the reflections on the human nature of how
the aristocracy or how the people in power at that time
felt but it won't really happen.
