And when she went to reach for it, she had reached kind of more for the cap and the containers slipped out of her hands and paint went everywhere.

The walls that had stood there, those plaster walls that had stood there for, I don't know, 1500 years or something like that.

So of course, when this happened, every single one of us scrambled to help her out.

We were cleaning as fast as we could.

We were cleaning the floors.

We were just grabbing everything.

But there is this thing about plaster.

So when you go to try to clean

acrylic paint off plaster, it just smears and it soaks in.

And so every time we would try to clean the plaster in a different way, it was just becoming worse and worse.

And then as we were continuing to clean, you could just see her mind was racing.

She was so upset.

She was trying not to cry.

but she took a few minutes aside after we had finally got the floors cleaned, and she did something truly remarkable.

And she proceeded to paint a mural of poppies, which was an ode to the organic flower farm that we had just been to a few days before that.

So people often ask me if, uh, if my own paintings change in Italy,

And if I'm being honest, they don't really change that dramatically at all.

I'm going to keep getting inspired and I'm not going to question it.

So that's what Italy does.

It is the interruption that we often need or that I often need to just shake loose sometimes, you know?
