a quality squad so yeah for them it really was this sort of gathering moment like for their supporters as well they were fine last night I mean they I wouldn't say they were terrific really but Iraq actually had a moment 20 minutes coming up to halftime where they made it a really interesting game for a while and I kind of mentioned this like to me the story actually that I was really struck by was the Iraqi goal scorer I don't know if you've seen this so Ayman Hussain is his name oh he was struck in Chicago O'Hare airport for 7-8 hours yeah he is
I suppose he's like Der Haaland in a way.
He was the guy who scored the goals in qualifying, but yeah, he's 30 years of age.
He's from Iraq, and I suppose a lot of people our age are here in Iraq, and you're just associated with war or this image of trauma, but this is real.
His dad was killed.
He was in the Iraqi army, and he was killed by al-Qaeda when he was 12.
His brother was kidnapped and never seen again.
Supers.
And that's the backdrop of his story.
He gets to Chicago and he's questioned for seven hours.
And there's this question mark over maybe getting in.
And he's the one who scores and has this moment where he wheels away in front of their fans who, again, like most countries here, they're probably Iraqi fans who live in America rather than ones who've been able to travel.
So I was really struck by his story.
I am traveling around a bit and I will say.
This is the best atmosphere I've probably experienced on the ground at a World Cup for the reasons that you say.
I think you were in Brazil in 2014, and you may remember Rio was definitely that bit of the hub, the centre of play.
So you could walk down Rio at the start and you might have fans of six, eight different countries.
But it was still probably heavily influenced by, say, fans of...
South American countries.
And then probably, look, the cost of it was quite expensive.
