Well, in a lot of my conversations with him, I can promise you that's what he wants to do.

But then you look at his track record, and it's so early in Blue Jays' career here, but already you're starting to say, okay, now I'm kind of getting it where he's got a 4.5 ERA, then he's the top five-style young guy.

Next year, he's a 4.5 ERA.

Next year, he's the top five-style young guy.

So you can kind of see, and mechanically, I've talked to him so much about his bottom half and really controlling himself over the pitching rubber.

I mean, there's a lot of cerebral stuff going on there.

And you just wonder, those first three innings we saw in the last start, it was like,

unbelievable right he was unhittable and i'm thinking this is like no hit stuff then all of a sudden yes you're right kev runner gets on base and i'll help race loose but i think part of that i remember talking on the broadcast about it it's like he was he does a decent job actually not as much this year so far but he does a decent job controlling the running game but is he worrying about it a little too much because he is so into his mechanics and his bottom half and how it all works

that I think he was like holding the ball a long time.

He was actually doing a pretty good job, but I think it was impacting his pitches.

So maybe less worrying about the running game.

You know, I sound like this is the analytical part of me, I guess.

I can't believe I'm saying this as a catcher.

Less worrying about the running game when a guy gets there and just comes set and throw the baseball like you were doing it before.

Easier said than done because there's a lot going on out there, but I think it has more to do with just who he is

him mechanically remember in spring training john tried i think john sanderson first thing he talked about with dylan ceases how curious he is about wanting to get better and all these six shapes to his pitches all these things that's the way he is well i think that's probably the way he is with his mechanics too and then if you're thinking like that out there it can unravel in a hurry and those are probably i'm just guessing that those are things he's been fighting in his career because there's no question about this stuff my goodness
