And then of late, we have worked on a three year study where we're finding that the relative levels of abstinence are maintained.
So you asked what the mechanism is.
I think to some degree we have hypotheses, but we don't know exactly.
We appear to be driving synchronization of systems.
They might be cortical.
They might be deeper.
There's some evidence that we're directly influencing the nucleus accumbens and the ventral tegmental area.
Certainly, we measure impacts to anhedonia, to depression, to anxiety.
So that would lead us to that kind of conclusion.
But we're trying to drive this with some good science.
So we've published a couple of papers from a randomized control trial
We are putting together a controlled trial right now that is nationwide, about 600 people.
And it's looking to address long-term treatment of substance use disorder, not the management of withdrawal.
I wouldn't say we don't have one in mind.
I would say that we haven't yet established good biomarkers that would let us prove that.
What we do prove today, though, is outcomes.
So if we were looking at things that we believe that we can modulate, we've done animal studies and we have indirect data that suggests we are, in fact, modulating dopaminergic action, serotonergic action, GABAergic action.
Whether the vagus nerve is involved in here or not is a hypothesis.
For sure.
It's not, it's not correlated with long-term change in behavior.
