So it wasn't like you can go online and like look up a picture of a dress that's ankle height, right?

You actually had to go through women's magazines and you had to go through fashion magazines of the time period and find those images.

They would trace things, they would copy them, and they had files filled with lots and lots of images of clothes for whatever character you're looking for.
