Now, the Westgate is pretty far off the strip, and it's more of a sort of ordinary person's idea of a Las Vegas vacation.
It's not super flashy, it's got an a ballroom and it's got
casino floor, but it's really much more kind of a working class casino than the Venetian, the win.
And Trump packed that ballroom, just absolutely packed it.
There might have been three or four thousand people there.
And down the street, Marco Rubio, who was the sort of intelligentsia candidate, now he's more of a MAGA guy, but at that time he was kind of the establishment's favorite.
He got about 200 people.
Trump was pulling in 3,000, 4,000.
And
Trump got up there on stage and he did the opposite of what every politician had ever told me to do in this sort of setting.
Uh the the the the sort of conventional wisdom was expressed by Bobby Jindal.
Remember him, he was the governor of Louisiana, which is that you want to show up late, you want to create a sense of mystique around the candidate, you wanna speak quickly and then leave.
In other words, create an aura of kind of
otherworldiness around a political candidate.
Trump did the opposite.
He showed up on time and he spoke for more than an hour and he said whatever was on his mind.
And the people in the audience felt that he was letting them in on his secrets, letting them in on the way he thought.
So there was kind of an intimacy between Trump and 3,000, 4,000 people.
And I looked around and I said, this guy is the real deal.
This is not some kind of a vanity project.
