But I don't want a majority that's just like 50.1%, because that's inherently unstable.

If that's it, we'll get like what happened with Obama, where the nuclear deal didn't have enough political support

to withstand the assault by Trump.

So I want us to get a foreign policy that goes to the 60 to 70%.

I want us to stand up for American values and be patriotic and rely on our allies and be firm and strong as well.

uh and and and populist and and very pragmatic and that's the goal here because right now after the biden years uh sort of ended with a lot of controversy and this whole dynamic we really need to restore the american people's faith that we understand how to lead

It's really hard for Democrats.

And that's why Democrats have always said, we don't want to talk about foreign policy and ceded the ground to the Republicans and let them define what it means to be a strong leader on foreign policy and national security.

And that's a failure of imagination on our part.

We have had essentially an oppositional mindset rather than a proactive, here's our vision for the world and one that can actually keep Americans safe.

and build up our strength and our power, both abroad and domestically.

So in the book, I try to link that all the time.

I try to say, look, you need to make the case domestically, politically, to people in Pittsburgh, to people in Kentucky, to people in California, how engagement X matters to them.

And it needs to be consistent and robust.

And there are ways to do it and examples in the book, but also in your life and in my life, too.

I see it.

We see it every day.

We see it with the gas prices.

We see it with the questions about terrorism.
